Lighthouse by Kingspan
Boasting the pinnacle of eco-conscious architecture, Lighthouse by Kingspan is hailed the most sustainably advanced home of it’s time, earning praise internationally. Using our sustainable PEFC certified European Sweet Chestnut to clad its external sweeping curves and interior floors, we’re proud to be part of this award winning build.

Built With Integrity
Lighthouse is the UK’s first net-zero carbon house that meets the highest level of The Code for Sustainable Homes (Level 6). Incredibly insulated and airtight, this revolutionary build features impressive systems such as ‘Rainwater Harvesting’ which saves an average of 50% of water compared to a conventional home.
We are proud to work alongside designers that share our values in lowering carbon emissions, helping build a better future and sustainably conscious industry.

Why Sweet Chestnut?
Architect Sheppard Robson specified our Sweet Chestnut certified by PEFC. Highly durable and 20% lighter in weight than other comparable hardwoods, it will maintain the project’s standards throughout the years. In total, 5,000m of European Sweet Chestnut cladding was supplied and installed to all elevations, decking and internal flooring. For the external cladding, the solid European Sweet Chestnut was supplied in 25mm x 50mm and 25mm x 100mm.
Additionally, the timber is available in finger jointed or end matched depending on requirements. Sweet Chestnut is consistent in colour, with high levels of tanning and categorised as highly stable. Specified also for its longevity and low maintenance Sweet Chestnut ages fairly evenly to a distinctive silvery patina.
