Potton Passivhaus Show Home

Sivalbp® New Age Gris Western Red Cedar from Vincent Timber

Vincent Timber supplied this project almost 10 years ago. Now, we’re revisiting to highlight the still stunning finish after all this time. Sustainability has always been a key focus of ours, but now, it is more important than ever. Passivhaus is one way you can make an impact.

Vincent Timber supplied Sivalbp, New Age Gris, Western Red Cedar cladding for the show home at Potton Self-Build Show Centre in St Neots, nearly 10 years ago.

The completed house, where visitors are able to step inside and experience Passivhaus standards for themselves, features Vincent Timber’s Sivalbp New Age Gris, finger jointed, Western Red Cedar with a pre-weathered grey appearance.

Ten years ago, Vincent Timber was proud to sponsor Potton’s new contemporary show home. Today, it is more important than ever for more people to be aware of the eco-conscious and energy efficient options when building their own homes.

In an ‘green’ building designed with high levels of energy efficiency, Vincent Timber not only add to the sustainability features, but enhance the project visually through the supply of Sivalbp Parallelo open rain-screen ‘New Age’ cladding, which, thanks to its desirable ‘weathered’ look, is just as beautiful today as when it was installed.

Why Choose Passivhaus?

There are many advantages to building your own home. One of them is choosing your materials and systems to become energy efficient.

This has many benefits, including:

  • Reducing your energy costs
  • Healthier more consistent internal environments
  • A house that is better for the environment

This is a lot like a Passivhaus however, a Passivhaus is a building that has met a performance-based energy standard, based on the energy efficient design and systems that reduce a building’s ecological footprint.

Of course, none of this would be complete without timber cladding. Timber is the only truly renewable resource and Vincent Timber source their wood exclusively from sustainable, certified forests. Only the highest quality material is selected, which is then machined and quality check by us, onsite at our mill. Certain products, such as the Sivalbp above, only use finishing products without solvents, designed to protect against UV rays and bad weather. Sivalbp finishes require little or no maintenance and have proven over and over again to last the test of time.
