The Cape Cod Story – Factory Painted Timber Cladding
This family owned and operated business was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia in North America. It began life hauling logs by horse and sleigh. Today is it a global leader in forest resource product development. The company have been proudly supplying the finest quality wood products for three generations.
Using hand selected Canadian Lodgepole Pine, Cape Cod timber cladding is kiln dried and band sawn to produce a textured face. This bright and beautifully workable Lodgepole Pine ranks with the best of the pines.
Creating an Individual Design
Cape cod is unique in a number of ways from design through to production. It is one of North America’s only specialists in prefinished natural wood cladding and colour matched accessories. Cape Cod is manufactured from raw wood, through to the finished product, all under one roof. This ensures quality is monitored throughout and a superior finish is created. It also assures of a 100% usable product.
When it comes to colour, designers have selected a wide range of standard colours, but the colour lab is fitted with leading technology for capturing any colour you can imagine and ensuring it can be reproduced correctly every-time. Offering a truly unique look for your home or build.
Profiles vary from the classic horizontal and traditional bevel to vertical board and batten or a sleek contemporary channel. This gives you artistic rein with cladding and trims that will add distinctive architectural detail to your home.
Looking for an even more unique look? The bespoke line of finishes allows you to choose from a brushed face, hidden fastener, or options such as textured or smooth face, for a truly individual finish.

Controlled Production Process
- Only the finest raw timber, containing only small, tight knots with a straight grained texture is selected.
- We manufacture seven profiles in the range, each with its own characteristic look.
- Our unique defect line ensures that any loose knots are manually removed and the holes are filled.
- Colour consistency and paint quality are maintained under strict laboratory conditions to match virtually any colour.
- Coated using a high-performance water-based acrylic paint, then oven dried & repeated prior to packaging.
Tips for Installation
Cladding and trims should be stored on a flat, level surface, off the ground, preferably under cover. Adequate protection from the elements is essential at all times and timber must be kept dry prior to installation. The plastic packaging, if opened carefully, can be used for protection.
It is imperative that all cuts, particularly ends, are well sealed with matching touch up paint prior to fixing. Cladding must be fitted tight to junctions with vertical trims and corners. When ‘joining’ cladding, square butt joints can be used but improved results will be achieved by an angled mitre cut, particularly at top and bottom of boards on vertical applications.
Secret Fix Cladding is installed with Cape Cod colour matched stainless steel nails. When using 63mm nails, the cladding can be fitted at maximum 600mm centres. Boards up to 150mm wide can be fitted with a single nail. Boards over 150mm wide require 2 nails per board. Nail heads to be flush with the surface of the cladding.
Cape Cod requires very little maintenance other than cleaning to remove dirt or algae. It can be gently hosed down with low pressure if required. Periodic inspection should be carried out for damage or seasoning checks, which should be filled and touch up paint used.

Sustainability
Cape Cod is PEFC certified. This covers all legal, sustainable and certification requirements to allow architects to specify with total confidence. What’s more, with a timber resource of 1.2 billion cubic metres of mature Lodgepole Pine, the interior forest industry is well positioned to supply and satisfy long-term demand for this practical and versatile wood.

Painted Timber for Housing Developments
Mid Sussex Homes Case Study
Working with Mid Sussex Homes, Vincent Timber supplied a stunning housing development that showcases the beauty of this unique Cape Cod cladding, only available from Vincent Timber in the UK.
Influence for this beautiful build was taken from a Sussex Farmhouse, where traditional brick meets timber clad elevations with antique style bricks and slate roof tiles. The house sits within a lovely rural setting surrounded by 0.6 acres of equally stunning gardens.
The traditional aesthetics are complimented by many modern features which not only provide a touch of luxury but also create an eco-friendly home – efficient air source heating systems and discrete solar panels to name just a few.
For this project the Mid Sussex Homes team chose Cape Cod Bevel 6 in White to create this individual, country look.

Painted Timber for Holiday Cabins
Unyoked Case Study
The awareness that frequent time spent in nature can do wonders for a number of aspects of our everyday lives is growing exponentially. That is why the Unyoked team began their business with the aim to make us all happier, healthier and care more for the planet.
Their off-grid locations are custom-designed to be as sustainable as possible, utilising a blend of solar power, rainwater and compost to minimise the human footprint while making sure the next generation has access to the same beautiful wilderness as the last.
Naturally, timber cladding, the only truly renewable resource, was a no brainer to help build these wonderful eco cabins of calm and restoration. Not only kind to the planet but detract nothing from the natural setting and the de-stressing effects nature has on our bodies.
Painted Cladding for Contemporary Builds
Partnering with Cape Cod
More than 20 years ago, John Vincent, owner of Vincent Timber Ltd, approached us to become our importer for Cape Cod Cladding in the UK.
Until his passing some years ago, John and his team were instrumental in building a substantial market for our products in the UK. John was well respected in the industry and that helped a lot.
Since then, his son, Jake Vincent, and his new team entered into a more modern approach to selling cladding, and Cape Cod is still known as a high-quality cladding with almost unlimited colours.
During the past 20+ years, Vincent Timber Ltd has secured numerous projects in the UK, using their experience and skills, making Cape Cod Cladding one of the most well-known brands in the UK.
