The Sivalbp Story: Pre-weathered Timber Cladding
Vincent Timber is the UK’s sole distributor of Sivalbp, a modern production facility based in the South of France.
Many profiles can be secret fixed, avoiding visible nail heads and protecting the integrity of the coating. The company also supplies products for internal as well as external use, and profiles can be supplied in a range of surface finishes including smooth, sanded, brushed, fine sawn and planed.
Roots
Sivalbp have been a French timber cladding manufacturer since 2008. The cladding is produced in the heart of the French Alps, in a production site located in Thones. Throughout all aspects of production from the trees selected to sales made, Sivalbp stay respectful of human and environmental values.
Sivalbp are experts in woodworking and are committed to continuous improvement in order to offer the best products, services and industry processes.
The facility combines the latest technology in wood processing, with high quality pre-coating preparation and sophisticated environmentally friendly coating methods, to produce a range of coated products that are both high performance and aesthetically pleasing.
Sustainability
Thanks to sustainable finishes and saturators, Sivalbp cladding requires little maintenance. Finishing with saturators also brings a unique aesthetic to the timber as well as optimal aging over time.
Sivalbp are proud to be an eco-friendly timber cladding company. That’s why all wood supplies come exclusively from sustainably managed French forests, certified PEFC & FSC®.
The origin of the products is also carefully checked to ensure only premium quality products are sold.
What’s more, the eco design of the production site, using only renewable energy, helps to produce timber cladding for facades with a positive eco impact.
Sivalbp Timber Finishes
Sivalbp finishes are also sometimes known as a sacrificial or aged grey finishes. They are ideal for projects where indifferent weathering on various elevations is a concern, but no additional coating will be applied. This coating is perfect for achieving that natural grey finish without waiting for the weathering processes to occur naturally.
In response to environmental concerns, Sivalbp applies finishing products exclusively without solvents and are respectful of the environment in the factory.
These solutions protect against UV rays and bad weather, offering the cladding a CTB B + certified preservation whilst respecting the natural accents of wood.
Sivalbp finishes require little or no maintenance, depending on the range.

Sivalbp is a pioneer in the fire resistance of cladding with saturator on several ranges of finishes – FCBA reports.
Pre-weathered Cladding for Contemporary Builds
Battery Retail Park, Selly Oak, Birmingham Case Study
Contractors Design and Build worked alongside architects Piper Whitlock, back in 2018, on behalf of Harvest, on this stunning, 30-acre regeneration project, which was formerly an industrial site.
The project is a joint Sainsbury’s and Landsec venture which features 250,000 sq. ft. of retail and leisure buildings. The large onsite Sainsbury’s, erected upon stilts, is an impressive feature building.
Design and aesthetic have been a huge focus of this project, combining striking materials and features, while heavily incorporating the Worcester and Birmingham canal to create a unique experience that’s so much more than shopping.
Whilst there is parking for 860 cars, the canal side square connects the site to the centre of Selly Oak, providing easy access for pedestrians and cyclists too. Thanks to its environmentally friendly design this project has a Very Good BREEAM rating.
Onsite retailers include Next, Marks & Spencer and JD Sports while Nando’s, Costa and more recently, McDonald’s, provide a little fuel break. All of which are fronted with beautiful solar shading, and bespoke cladding design on the higher levels. The design was also the chosen feature for the Sainsbury’s main building.
The Sainsbury’s site also features an unforgettable glazed movement atrium which is mostly covered by stunning New Age Gris cladding in both vertical and horizontal profiles.
As a project local to Vincent Timber, it was a build very special to us and the teams we worked with. The Vincent Timber project leader had this to say,
“It was very exciting to work on a project so close to our head office in Birmingham. It holds a special place for me as the planning and design process was such a pleasure. We engaged with the architect (Piper Whitlock) and main contractor (Interserve) to discuss the cladding design and the benefits. We discussed a timber cladding that would patina in an even manor as, due to the various elevations and surroundings, the timber would normally weather at differing rates. Interserve then introduced A2O and Solinear as the nominated installers who Vincent Timber have long standing relationships with. It was amazing to see the project take shape from the ground to how it looks today.”

Partnering with Sivalbp
I came to Birmingham for the first time in 2016 with my Managing Director, Mr Guillaume Tormos.
I was a little stressed because it had been a long time since I had spoken English, but the welcome I received from the Vincent Timber team was extremely kind.
After a few moments of conversation in the meeting room, Mr John Vincent entered the room, and what immediately struck me was the look in his eyes and his smile. A sparkling look, full of mischief and kindness. I was also impressed by his extensive knowledge of everything to do with wood; he was passionate about his work and shared it with others.
Over the past 7 years, I’ve been to Birmingham several times where, with the sales team, we’ve met many companies and architects to promote SIVALBP products. Thanks to these meetings with architects, we were able to work together on the incredible Sainsbury’s and Selly Oak shopping centre project in 2018.
