Timber was of course the chosen cladding material and Canadian Western Red Cedar the selected species. This is due to its ability to unify the architecture, soften the exterior and deliver long‑term performance.
Used across elevations, gables and soffits, the Cedar creates a cohesive and elegant façade that brings warmth and refinement.
Its natural tones and fine grain sit comfortably alongside the existing stonework, allowing the architectural elements to complement one another and the existing surrounding.
Beyond aesthetics, Canadian Western Red Cedar was chosen for its exceptional technical qualities. Naturally durable and highly stable, it offers inherent resistance to moisture, decay and insect attack, making it ideally suited to external applications in the UK climate.
The timber’s characteristics allow it to be left untreated, reducing maintenance requirements while ensuring it will weather gracefully over time to a soft silvery patina that further enhances its beautiful cohesion with the landscape.
Sustainability was a key consideration throughout the project. Vincent Timber’s responsibly sourced Western Red Cedar is a renewable material that requires relatively little energy to produce. This helped reduce environmental impact while achieving a high quality and visually striking façade.
