Machined Finishes

Add a textured finish to your timber cladding. If planed timber isn’t for you, change the appearance with a sawn, or textured surface.

Overview

Timber cladding can be offered in a range of different finishes, not just your standard planed or smooth finish.

Machined finishes can be offered for an aesthetic preference on your project or in some cases, when it comes to painted timber cladding, there are benefits to having a sanded, or textured finish.

  • Planed

    Planed

Should no other finish be requested this would be our standard option, offering a smooth finish to the seen face of your chosen profile.

  • Sanded

    Sanded

Some coating systems do require a sanded finish for better adhesion between the coating and the chosen timber. It is also ideal for internal applications.

  • Sawn

    Re-sawn

This finish is often popular with traditional feather edge profiles, suited to the more rustic looking project. However, a re-sawn finish can also be achieved on other profiles by request. A re-sawn face also helps with the longevity of any coatings applied to the surface.

  • Untitled design

    Vin-Tex

Often referred to as combed, this finish is ideal when more texture is desired for the end look. This is a face finish only, allowing various profiles to be machined, but offering that uniform combed effect on the face. Again this finish is ideal for most coatings as it will increase the adhesion process.

  • Remmers Coated Thermowood

    Structured

This finish is available in various levels. Each timber specie will react differently to the various depth of brush levels. Structured finishes tend to be popular with coated projects where a visible grain is required, offering depth and showing the character of the timber’s grains on the surface.

  • Charred

    Charred

With a wide range of charred finishes available, it’s imperative the correct timber specie is chosen for this application. With various depths and colour finishes available (not only black) we recommend a quick call to discuss your options with this popular finish.

Not every timber species is suitable for each of the above finishes so get in touch today with your enquiry to talk through suitable options.

Fixings

Fixings

Stainless steel fixings are recommended, reducing the opportunity for any extractives or tannins from the timber to react with the fixing. Either screws, or nails are suitable but this will be led by the requirements for your specific project.
