Key properties

British Cedar timber cladding offers a cost effective product with a low carbon footprint. Supplied fully FSC Certified and kiln dried, it comes ready for your timber cladding project. Be safe in the knowledge, when ordering from our Heritage Collection, the product will be sourced and supplied fit for purpose.

When freshly installed, the species will range in colour from pinks to amber, through to brown. Boards will contain knots relatively frequently, adding to the character and creating a traditional or rustic appearance of timber cladding. Heritage Collection homegrown Cedar is also a budget friendly option.

Due to medium movement of the timber, we advise halflap profiles rather than tongue and groove or PSE boards. This option is more forgiving to movement and will help with both the performance and appearance of your British Cedar timber cladding façade.

It is a moderately durable timber, perfectly suited to be used in external timber cladding applications. Left uncoated homegrown Cedar weathers down to a silver/ grey (patina) appearance.

Fixings

Fixings

Stainless Steel fixings are recommended, reducing the opportunity for any extractives or tannins from the timber to react with the fixing. Either screws, or nails are suitable, this will be led by the requirements for your specific project.

We provide full fixing and installation information including batten specification, as an overview the following guidance should be met:

Nail or screw dimensions should be relative to the thickness of the board you are installing and be able to adequately secure the cladding. Annular ring shank fixings are recommended for softwood cladding:
